Nigeria: Tech Engineering Centres Boost for Local Students

Lagos — Local students are set to benefit from the establishment of three technology engineering centres in the country.

Samsung Electronics Nigeria Limited says it is working on establishing such facilities as part of plans to transfer its manufacturing skills to locals.

Two such centres have already been set up in Lagos and Abuja while construction of a third one is underway in Ekiti State.

The Korean-headquartered firm said the centres would serve as academies for the training of young secondary school engineers.

It said the engineering academies would also help to develop capacity in air conditioning systems in secondary schools within the Federal Capital Territory.

Managing Director of the company, Bruno Kim, said the setting up of the centres was motivated by the desire of the company to support Nigeria's skill acquisition programme.
